Calvin Lo, CFA®, CFP®

Co-Founder, Financial Advisor

Introduction

Calvin Lo is Co-Founder and Financial Advisor at Keystone Global Partners, a multi-family office serving ultra-high-net-worth founders and entrepreneurs. He leads the firm’s investment strategy and portfolio management, pairing institutional investment discipline with the operational rigor that keeps every part of the client investment portfolio running at a high standard. Known for candid advice and an uncompromising level of integrity, Calvin keeps clients focused on their goals and surfaces the blind spots that are hard to see themselves.

Portfolio Management & Investment Research

Calvin oversees portfolio management and investment strategy at Keystone. He maintains the firm’s outlook on the markets, manages equity, fixed income, and alternative investment target allocations, conducts continued diligence on existing client portfolio investments, and researches new investment opportunities and managers. Drawing on his background as an equity analyst and portfolio manager, he brings an analyst’s discipline to every allocation decision, with diversification, tax efficiency, and risk management at the core of how client portfolios are built.

Client Advisory

Calvin also oversees client advisory at Keystone. He reviews all client strategic plans and views operational excellence as inseparable from great advice. Calvin believes an advisor’s job is to do what is best for the client, not simply to say yes to everything a client wants to do. That means giving the tough answers when clients need to hear them, staying focused on client goals, delivering candid advice, and identifying blind spots before they become costly mistakes. The deep, durable trust that results from becoming a family’s trusted advisor over years is what Calvin considers his proudest professional accomplishment.

Professional Background

Calvin is a CFA® charterholder and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®) professional. Early in his career, he was given advice he still passes on: forget the money, go where you can learn the most, and surround yourself with the best in the industry. He took it to Merrill Lynch, serving as an Equity Analyst in Merrill Lynch Equity Research and as an Investment Analyst in the Private Banking and Investment Group (PBIG), and later as Principal and Portfolio Manager at Royal Oak Capital Management before co-founding Keystone Global Partners. Calvin earned his B.S. in Management Science from the University of California, San Diego, and studied Corporate Finance at the London School of Economics.

A Personal Mission

Calvin’s conviction about protecting wealth is personal. His grandfather was one of Hong Kong’s top movie producers in the 1970s and ’80s, the producer who brought Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li into the film industry. His talent created great wealth, but without a trusted advisor to manage risk and protect what he built, he was unable to pass down the legacy he intended.

Calvin helps other families avoid the same mistakes and achieve their goals. His guiding principle: it’s not about the money you make, it’s about the money you keep and the impact you make with it.

Personal

Outside of work, Calvin is happiest taking his wife and three young kids outdoors to the mountains, lakes, and beaches. You can find him hiking, running trails, and skiing during the winters. He has summited Mt. Whitney and hiked the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim.

Calvin volunteers with PATH, a nonprofit that helps people find permanent housing and provides case management services to acquire jobs and establish a stable financial foundation. He also supports Smiley Tails, an organization that rescues dogs of all ages and breeds from high-kill shelters and high-risk situations.
